I am Rashiq Fataar an urbanist based in Cape Town, South Africa.

My calling and career are cities; their people, landscapes, inspirational spaces and future development.

As an independent urbanist and director of Our Future Cities, I advise on and develop strategies for public and private sector projects, working across the fields of urban development which include architecture, planning, public spaces, non-motorised transport and digital media.

I also share my thought and projects locally and globally, having presented at conferences in cities including New York, Munich, Casablanca and Barcelona as well as being featured in a number of magazines and media platforms including : Icon Magazine, Monocle TV, The Guardian, The Cape Argus.

Presentation to students from Northeastern University in Boston, as part of the visiting programme: The Right to the City: Exclusion and Justice in the Post-Apartheid City. 

Presented 3 lectures and 3 site visits (Urban Planning, Urban Development and Social and Environmental Justice) to Honours students from the University of Tulsa as part of the programme, Global Scholars : Sustainability and Urban Development.

As the founder and director of Our Future Cities NPO, I drive the vision and sustainability of Future Cape Town, Johannesburg, Lagos and London.



I consult as an urbanist and strategist, armed with knowledge and passion for projects at the intersection of urbanism, new media, economics and research.
